MEDICAL CODING.

                     Medical Coding is the conversion of healthcare procedures of a patient into alphanumeric codes. These codes contains patient's diagnosis, treatments, services or supplies the patient received, any unusual circumstances or medical conditions that affected those treatment and services.  

                 Medical Coders uses a set of assigned  codes for coding purposes which includes, ICD, CPT and HCPCS. ICD codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of codes published and managed by World Health Organisation (WHO).  ICD codes are important as it provides a common language for recording, reporting and monitoring diseases. This allows the world to compare and share data in a consistent and standard way between hospitals, regions and countries over periods of time.
